At first I was very excited about this. Then I started doubting about this. I even wanted to quit on this. But now I am just getting ready for the adventure with this.
What is this?
Yes, you are right! I am heading to Paris for some time! Probably it's going to be too short. Too fast. Too not enough... but hopefully still very tasty, lovely and simply Parisian... Just the way it's supposed to be, isn't it?
By the way, is there anything touristic, maybe not so easily caught by the stranger's eye, but extremely worth seeing? Any recommendations would be highly appreciated!
In the meantime, I will leave you with a very easy and relatively light summer dessert. One layer of toasted sweet black bread crumbs, one layer of silky whipped cream and one layer of jam - that's all you need to enjoy the afternoon with some slight notes of sinfulness. Just when the open window lets in the adventurous plan for summer, or leastwise for next lazy Sunday nooning.
Layered Black Bread, Whipped Cream and Cherry Jam Dessert
5.3 oz (150 g) black bread, grated
1 Tbsp butter
4 Tbsp (50 ml) + 2 tsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 cup (240 ml) whipping cream
1 tsp vanilla sugar
cherry (or any other lightly sour and watery) jam, according to taste
In a small pan, melt the butter and toast the bread crumbles, mixed with 4Tbsp (50 ml) sugar and cinnamon. Set aside to cool.
Meanwhile, whip the cream with the remaining 2 tsp sugar and vanilla sugar.
Layer the dessert in glasses: one layer of bread, a few tablespoons of jam, whipped cream, then another layer of bread, jam and again the cream on top. Sprinkle with the remaining bread crumbles.
Chill in the refrigerator at least 1 hour before serving.
